Scotty Roderick Hopkins Sr.
Scotty Roderick Hopkins Sr. was born Oct. 1, 1978, in Osceola to the late Rev. Dr. Robert Hopkins Sr. and Jeanette Cannon. His late uncle Dewitt Brooks Sr. helped raise Scotty and was more like a father to him. Scotty accepted Christ at an early age. He served under the leadership of Bishop James Sims Sr. at First Baptist of Dell. As an adult Scotty served under the leadership of his father, Dr. Robert Hopkins Sr., at Morning Star Baptist Church of Blytheville and followed his father to St. Mark Full Gospel. While under his father’s leadership Scotty was ordained and licensed as a minister. While a member of Morning Star he served as the youth pastor. In 2013, Scotty was elected to be the pastor of Northside Missionary Baptist Church in Kennett, Mo.
Scotty’s motto in life was “Sky's the Limit”. Scotty enjoyed being a salesman as well as smelling good and looking good. Scotty doted himself on his appearance and riding in nice cars. Scotty was very extravagant and didn’t mind showing it either with his gold teeth, gold rings, gold necklaces and every pair of Air Jordans to match his outfit. Scotty really loved preaching the word of God and loved going to church. His favorite song to sing was “He’s Calling Me."
