The inmate who attempted suicide by hanging himself at the Trumann jail has died. Chief Jon Redman said the inmate was taken off life support and died Sunday night. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for a medical examiner consult. No name has been released since the case is still open pending the completion of the consult.
On Aug. 1, Trumann Police Chief Jon Redman confirmed a suspect was arrested on felony drug charges, booked in, and later attempted to commit suicide in a jail cell. Redman said the inmate was rendered medical aid, transported to the hospital, and placed on life support.
Redman also said the subject gave no indication at the time of his arrest or booking of his intentions.
“Our sympathy is for this subject and the family as they go through this tough time,” Redman said.
