An accident on north bound Interstate 55 at the 53 mile marker Wednesday, between Luxora and Burdette, has resulted in the death of at least one motorist.
A crash between an 18-wheeler and an automobile resulted in the truck ending up on top of the car, causing the fatality.
According to Osceola Fire Chief Peter Hill members of the departments Rescue and Extrication unit are assisting at the scene. Hill said a wrecker has been called in to try to get the truck off of the automobile.
North bound traffic is being diverted off of I-55 at both the Luxora and Osceola exits.
