Two separate vehicle accidents on Highway 18 claimed the life of two and injured four others on Wednesday night.
According to the Arkansas Police accident report, the first accident happened at 9:30 p.m. on State Highway 18/Roseland. The driver, listed as unknown, was taken to the Great River Medical Center morgue.
The passenger, Michael Galloway, 51, of Paragould, was transported to the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
The 1999 Chevy Tahoe was traveling east on State Highway 18, near Roseland, when the driver lost control and veered toward the outside shoulder. When re-entering the roadway the vehicle veered right toward the shoulder again before exiting the roadway. The vehicle then struck the roadside ditch and overturned and began overturning again striking a utility pole coming to rest on the passenger side facing a southwestern direction.
Investigating Trooper was Blake S. Irvin, with the Arkansas State Police.
The second accident happened at 10:42 p.m. on Highway 18/east of State Highway 181. According to the accident report, one passenger, a minor, was deceased, and three others injured.
Injured were the driver, Jaylin Johnson, 19, and passengers Javian Johnson, 19, and Kezarious Barnett, 19, all of Blytheville. The injured were transported to the Regional One Medical Center.
The vehicle was traveling westbound on State Highway 18 approaching State Highway 181 when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway traveling into the roadside ditch. The vehicle traveled approximately 713 feet before overturning coming to a final rest in a field facing in a southeastern direction.
The investigating officer was Cpl. Freddy J. Ware, with the Arkansas State Police.
