Charges against a son who apparently shot his father in Blytheville have been increased.

As reported last week in the Town Courier, 46-year-old Roy Vanvickle, Sr., of Blytheville, told police on April 17 he had been shot by his son, 26-year-old Roy Vanvickle, Jr.

According to Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson, the victim, who was listed in critical condition, is still recovering.

Warrants against the son have been updated from battery to attempted murder and terroristic act.

The son remains in custody in Missouri. Thompson said he is facing charges in both Dunklin and Pemiscott Counties. Once these charges are faced, he will be extradited back to Arkansas.

On Sunday, April 17, at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 800 block of N. 2nd Street in Blytheville. On arrival, they found Vanvickle, Sr., had been shot. He identified his son as the assailant.
