Missouri resident Roy Vanvickle, Jr. was taken in custody in Caruthersvile Sunday, April 17 for shooting his father, Blytheville resident Roy Vanvickle, Sr., as well as for his involvement in a second shooting the same day in Hayti.
Vanvickle, Sr. was found in critical condition and transported to a medical facility for treatment.
According to Vanvickle, Sr., his son had been drinking. They got into an argument, and his son allegedly shot him.
Blytheville Police Department were called Sunday evening after gunshots were heard in the 800 block of North Second Street. According to Chief Ross Thompson officers found Vanvickle, Sr. with gunshot wounds. He identified his assailant as his 26-year-old son.
Vanvickle, Jr. is currently being held in Missouri on separate charges while awaiting extradition back to Arkansas where he will face charges of battery first degree.
