The body of Danny McCallie, 58, of Manila was recovered from the Old Town Bay on Monday afternoon.
Manila Chief of Police Chris Hill said they received a call from a family member saying he was last seen on Saturday and asking for their assistance.
Chief Hill and Manila Officer Hunter Holt went to the Old Town Bay, east of Baker Street, where McCallie had been seen.
“The water was six or seven feet deep and probably had been higher on Saturday,” Chief Hill said. “We saw objects that made us decide to search the bay. We called the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department for assistance. We put the boat in the water and recovered the body about 2:35 p.m.”
The Manila Police Department, Manila Fire Department and the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the search and recovery.
Chief Hill said the body will be sent to the state crime lab to determine the manner and cause of death.
