Geneva Mildred Weatherspoon

Geneva Mildred Weatherspoon of Inola, Okla., was born June 16, 1941, in Itta Bena, Miss., to the late Elijah Weatherspoon and the late Geneva Singleton Weatherspoon. She was a retired cook and was a homemaker in her later years. Geneva was of the Baptist faith and was an animal lover, especially dogs. Ms. Weatherspoon passed away Feb. 18, 2022, at Lane Nursing and Ventilator Care Facility in Inola, at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her father, Elijah Weatherspoon; her mother, Geneva Singleton Weatherspoon; two daughters, Alice Mae Hodges and Mary Lee Bradley; two brothers, Willie Weatherspoon and Junior Weatherspoon; sister, Addie Parker and brother-in-law Sammie Parker.

She is survived by her son, Roy (Shirley) Weatherspoon of Blytheville; one sister, Sarah Moore of Greenville, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

The visitation will be held Friday, March 4, from 5-7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville. The funeral will be held the following day, Saturday, March 5, at 10 a.m., also at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville, with Rev. Bennie Washington officiating. The burial will be at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Burdette. Services are provided by Wilson Funeral Home Blytheville.
