Zetta Corine White
Zetta Corine White, 91, longtime Manila resident and widow of Bobby L. White, passed from this life Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Campbell, Mo., to the late King Samuel and Linnie Marie Caldwell Jackson, she moved to Manila as a teenager and was a 1948 graduate of Manila High School. Following high school she received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Arkansas State University and began her life's work as an educator. She retired in 1989 after 34 years with Manila Public Schools. After retiring from teaching she joined her husband working in the family business, White's Grocery, for several years. Zetta was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Manila.
Survivors include two sons, Michael White (Cindy) of Manila and Barry White (Dee) of Memphis; one daughter, Leigh Ann Leslie (Sam) Kingston, Tenn.; one brother, Dean Jackson (Debbie) of Lexington, Tenn.; one sister, Deanna Clayton (Harold) of Paragould. She also leaves six grandchildren, Melanie Conrad (Darryl), Lindsey Hall (Jacob), Heather White, Colton White, Aaron Leslie (Hannah), Daniel Leslie (Alyssa), and five great-grandchildren, Madison, Ryder, Kaelyn, Liam and Milton.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Matt Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 5:30 until 7 at the funeral home. The family prefers any memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Manila.
