Rex Allan Clark
Rex Allan Clark, 65, of Bonham, Texas, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022. Born in Dowagiac, Mich., he was the son of the late Richard Lee and Bonnie Giller Clark and was a 1974 graduate of Dowagiac High School. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army before making a lifelong career as a law enforcement officer. Rex retired in 2012 after a combined 38 years as police chief for the Howard Township in Michigan and later the city of Leonard, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Swartz Creek, Mich., and enjoyed woodworking projects or anything requiring the skill of a handyman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Clark and Robert Clark.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Vickie Davis Clark of the home; two sons, Tim Clark (Amanda) of Ellisville, Mo. and Daniel Clark (Christina) of Bonham, Texas; two daughters, Sandra Cook (Shawn) of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Kim Olsen (Troy) of Paynesville, Ky.; one brother, William Clark of Dowagiac, Mich.; one sister, Lynn Clark of Niles, Mich. He also leaves 10 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Shawn Cook officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Cardwell Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time.
