Mary Carolyn Hayes

Mary Carolyn Hayes, 76, of Manila passed from this life Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, in Lakeland, Fla., at the home of her daughter. Born in Bassett and raised in Wilson, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Verla Hill Stout. Mary had been an employee of the former Buffalo Island Community Hospital in Manila and retired from the Beebe Nursing Center as a dietitian in 2006 after 15 years of service before returning to Manila.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Stout, Jimmy Stout and Donnie Stout; and two grandsons, Nicholas Jackson and Jerry "Tuffy" Reynolds.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Wadkins (Deana) of Batesville and Preston Wadkins of Manila; four daughters, Joy Warner (Brent) of Little Rock, Pam Jackson (Charlie) of Manila, Andrea Bernal (Matt) of Lakeland, Fla., and Becky Wadkins of Manila; three brothers, Larry Stout of Lafayette, La., Curtis Stout of Chesapeake, Vir., and John Stout of Temple, Texas. She also leaves several grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Tallant, Charlie Jackson, Jackie Hill, Gary "Duke" Hill, Brian Lee Hill, William Hill and Tom DeSpain. The family received visitors Tuesday afternoon from 1 until 2 at the funeral home. Online guest register: www.howardfuneralservice.com
