Lake City Mayor Cameron Tate discussed city employee raises for the year 2022 during the council meeting held Monday, Nov. 15.

A motion was made by Council member Danny Dunigan and seconded by Council member Brenda Hutcheson to make one step of $1,250/year by the salary schedule to all city employees for the year 2022. Motion passed 5-0 with Kate Wells abstaining.

A motion was made by Council member Dunigan and seconded by Council member Tommy Eakins to increase Edgar T. Daniels salary by .75 cents per hour for being certified for Class II wastewater license, effective immediately. Motion passed 5-0; Kate Wells abstained.

Council also passed motion to increase the recorder/treasurer salary increase one step of $1,250/year and the mayor salary increase two steps of $2,500/year for the year 2022. Motion passed 6-0.

Mayor Tate had an engineer evaluate the structure of the old school gym.

The engineer suggested it be taken down because it was not structurally sound. Council member Hutcheson felt like the city should have been better stewards of the old gym property after it was purchased. Council passed a motion to take bids on taking the old gym down.

Christmas parade will be Dec. 4, at 6 p.m., line-up at 5:30 at the ballpark.

Christmas lights judging will be Dec. 18, with first, second and third place winners.

In other business, the council:

* Approved end of year bonuses to first responders, secretary and fire chief as recommended by fire chief Chris Snyder.

* Accepted Planning & Zoning recommendations for re-zoning the Church of Christ property from C-1 to R-2.

* Accepted and adopted the 2022 proposed budget.

* Approved Craighead County Solid Waste Disposal Authority proposed budget for the year 2022.

Mayor Tate discussed with the council about raising permit fees. The council decided to table the discussion until next council meeting in December.

The next council meeting will be Monday, Dec. 20, at 5:30 p.m.
