A pair of 4A-3 conference teams will look to grab their first win of the season at 7 p.m., Oct.1 when Blytheville (0-4, 0-1) travels for a matchup with the Westside Warriors (0-3, 0-1).

The Warriors were on the brink of their first win last week in a double overtime contest with the Trumann Wildcats. However, a late goal line touchdown from the Wildcats kept Westside on the hunt for their first taste of victory.

Westside also lost a nailbiter in the game prior, falling by just two points against the Brookland Bearcats.

For the Chickasaws, despite dropping their first conference game to Cave City, they were able to post a season-high of 21 points.

The Blytheville defense also provided a spark, forcing three turnovers and scoring their first defensive touchdown of the season. However, turning the ball over themselves has hindered the Chickasaws’ season thus far. Multiple turnovers in each of the previous two contests have led to good field position and scores for the opposing teams. Untimely peatilites have also plagued the Chickasaws throughout the early season. Eliminating those unforced mistakes and becoming a more disciplined team has been the main two objectives for Blytheville’s first-year head coach Greg Ruffin. This game will also serve as Blytheville’s first taste of conference play on the road before returning home to host Highland on Oct. 8.

Kickoff between the Chickasaws and Warriors is set for 7 p.m.
