Lula Mae (Pollard) Burton
Mrs. Lula Mae (Pollard) Burton, 82, of Blytheville, transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, in Houston, Texas. She was born in Joiner on Dec. 8, 1938, to Clarence and Willie Mae Fair. Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert Pollard, Sr. and the late Rev. Andrew L. Burton, Sr.; daughter, Kathy L. Bobo (Rickie) of Blytheville; brothers, Levi, Eli, and Willie Fair; and a sister, Mattie B. Hoy. She served as a faithful First Lady at St. Paul Baptist Church and Zion Rock in Steele, Mo. In her Christian walk, she remained a steadfast and dedicated member at West End Baptist Church in Blytheville. She was a wonderful homemaker and long-term employee of Baptist Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, quilting and good food.
Mrs. Burton exemplified motherhood. As a mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and stepmother, she loved and cared authentically. She leaves a legacy of love and great memories to her family, Mrs. Wanda Pollard Jones (the late Kenny Jones), Spring, Texas, Dr. Barbara Pollard Deskins (William), High Point, N.C., Ms. Martha (Jeannie) Pollard, Washington, D.C., and Mr. Robert Pollard Jr. (Stacie), Blytheville. In addition, she leaves one sister, Ms. Louise Fair of Blytheville; grandchildren, Latora Dixon (Mike), Kimberly Pollard, Darrius Cooper, Wesley Cooper, Aisha Deskins, Shante’ Boone (Olrin), Ricci A. Bobo, Corey Michael Pollard Batts, Aphashanetta Pollard, Robin Pollard, Brittany Anderson, Candice Anderson, Jeryl Jones; and 10 great-grandchildren; a devoted brother-in-law, Mr. Carl Pegue, Sr., Blytheville, Paul Pollard, Dayton, Ohio, George Pollard, Nashville, Tenn., and Elmer D. Pollard, Gary, Ind. She also leaves to cherish her memories, stepsons/daughters of the Rev. A. L. Burton family, Ms. Luella Jones, Mrs. Alice Williams, Mrs. Viola Robinson, Andrew Burton Jr., Robert Burton, L.C. Burton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home in Blytheville, with funeral services at noon Aug. 28 at Loving Jesus Ministries, Elm, and El Dorado Streets, Blytheville, James Braggs, pastor. The Rev. Andrew Mitchell, eulogist, will officiate. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by McDonald-Horne Funeral Home.
