Russel Simpson of Blytheville was charged with felony domestic battery and aggravated animal cruelty on April 18 when he allegedly kicked and killed a cat.
Police were called to the 1700 block of West Main Sunday in reference to a domestic battery.
“Upon my arrival Simpson was standing beside his truck yelling at (the victim),” the report reads. “Simpson stated he came over to drop the cats off and when he pulled the cage from the bed of the truck the door to the cage came open and the momma cat ran into the street and was hit by a car. I observed no tire marks or any trauma. The cat appeared to be lifeless. Animal control was dispatched to retrieve the animal. I spoke with (the victim) and she stated she was outside and Simpson jumped out of his vehicle and slammed her to the ground. Simpson then grabbed the cage with the cat and kittens and started slamming them on the ground until the door to the cage opened and the momma cat tried to escape. Simpson started kicking the cat to get it back in the cage and the cat died.”
