William "Bill" Lloyd Dunkin
William "Bill" Lloyd Dunkin, of West Memphis, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021. He was 66 years old, though he often claimed to have had a pet dinosaur and to remember the invention of dirt.
Bill was a retired lieutenant with the Crittenden County Sheriff's Department and spent nearly 40 years in law enforcement. He was proud to serve his community, and he had numerous interesting stories about his time as an officer (some of them probably true). His family is proud of the difference that he made in the world.
He will be remembered most for his unmatched devotion to his family, his numerous attempts at auto repair, his affinity for shooting, and his large collection of rescued cats (though, according to his grandson, he will be remembered most for eating pizza and playing games). He never met a catfish restaurant he didn't like, and he enjoyed watching Alabama win national championships, though buying a new shirt after each championship was getting expensive.
Bill was preceded in passing by his parents (William and Sallie Dunkin of Gosnell) and his in-laws (Bob and Maxine Walker of Florida).
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joyce; son, Scott (Adele); grandchildren, John and Zoey; brother, Jimmy (Carol); brother-in-law, Bob Walker (Trish); and Adele's parents, Robin and Kenneth Miller.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
His family asks that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations be made in Bill's honor to The Nick's Kids Foundation or The West Memphis Animal Shelter.
We will miss you, Dad, and we love you. Thank you for being you.
