Michael Anthony Selvy
Michael Anthony Selvy was born in Chicago, Ill., Feb. 3, 1972, to the union of Robert L. Selvy and Elnora Beasley Selvy. Michael departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville at the age of 48. Michael’s parents Robert and Elnora Selvy, preceded in death along with two older sisters, Gloria Robinson Herron and Mary Vance.
Michael attended Blytheville Public Schools and graduated in 1991. Michael accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the Late Rev. J.D. Echols and later attended Oak Grove M.B. Church under the leadership of his father the Late Pastor Robert L. Selvy.
Michael was employed at Perkins Restaurant as kitchen manager, working diligently for the past 30 years until his demise. Michael has been a part of the family of Holiday Inn & Perkins so long that Don and Robin Houseworth and daughters adopted him as family. Don Houseworth was a second father figure and Robin was second mother figure and daughters were as his sisters.
Michael was loved by many and known as “Big Poppa”.
Michael leaves behind to cherish his memories, mom Cora Selvy of Augusta, Ga., four sons, Markell (Chasity) Selvy of Dallas, Texas, Marquise Selvy of Jonesboro, Marquavian and Mikeston Selvy, both of Blytheville; three daughters, Shermaine, Sharkeyvonna and Lacienega Selvy, all of Blytheville; two special daughters, Aziyah and Natyvia Clay, both of Blytheville; four brothers, John(Viola) Selvy, Greg (Becky) Selvy, Quincy (Teresa) Selvy, all of Blytheville, and Patrick (Rhonda) Selvy of Jonesboro; one sister, Chentelle (Eric) Smith of Blytheville; nine grandchildren; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
A walk-through viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 15, from 5-7 p.m., at Eternal Salvation Pentecostal Church, 1914 West Cherry St, Blytheville. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at Eternal Salvation Pentecostal Church. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Blytheville. Pastor John L. Selvy Sr. will be officiating.
