At least six children were victimized by Blytheville Middle School teacher Gregrory Briggs, according to court records released Tuesday.
Briggs, 39, of Blytheville faces charges of rape, sexual grooming of a child and internet stalking. Last week, Judge Shannon Langston set his bond at $200,000 cash only.
According to the Blytheville Police Department court synopsis, on May 12, police received a complaint that Briggs had been “exchanging flirtations” with the first victim, a 13-year-old girl, on Tik Tok, using a messaging feature for “conversations of a sexually explicit nature” and to meet face to face outside of school.
“These messages included ones sent after the hours of midnight and a conversation in which Briggs had driven to the victim’s neighborhood and then messaged the victim to come back outside and make face to face contact,” the report reads. “Briggs had also sent victim #1 a gay pride flag after speaking with victim #1 about their sexuality and discussing a ‘swinger’ sexual lifestyle that he (Briggs) and his wife engage in.”
Victim 1 disclosed the names of other potential victims, including Victim 2 who told Victim 1 “do not ever left Mr. Briggs get you alone in a room,” according to the report.
Victim 2 told officers she had a crush on Briggs and gave details of inappropriate conversations with Briggs through Tik Tok. She said Briggs gave her a Wii gaming system “to keep quiet about their correspondence,” the report said.
Police also discovered email messages between Briggs and another female student (Victim 3) which reportedly included content of the victim apologizing for “what happened” and discussed drinking alcohol with Briggs in the future as well as Briggs telling the student to forget about the incident.
Officers discovered messages on Victim 3’s phone between her and Briggs.
“The messages were sexually explicit in nature and involved transmitting/receiving photos,” the report reads. “It was discovered that Briggs also purchased lace underwear for victim #3. These items were hand delivered to the victim at school.”
The report said Victim 3 gave Briggs oral sex in 2019.
“She stated that she felt compelled to perform oral sex on Briggs in exchange for vaping products that he purchased and provided her with,” the report reads. “In her disclosure, Victim #3 also disclosed that Briggs requested nude photos of the victim, including requesting photos wearing the lace underwear, said gift, that he had provided her with.”
Officers were shown the photos that Victim 3 sent to Briggs.
When officers searched Briggs’ residence they “located evidence supporting the statements made by the victims,” the report said.
The report noted that Briggs admitted to purchasing the items for the victim. He also reportedly admitted to “inappropriate and conversations of a sexual nature” with Victim 1, Victim 2, Victim 3, Victim 4 and Victim 5, denying sexual contact with all except Victim 3.
He also told police he had inappropriate conversations with Victim 6, but never had physical contact with her.
Briggs told police that conversations with Victim 2 included “talking about collaring her and made her reply to him as ‘Sir’ in a submissive-dominant way specific to BDSM sexual relationship,” according to the report.
Briggs admitted to giving gifts to each victim.
He said he gave Victim 3 lacy underwear and asked for photos, including ones where her breasts were exposed. Briggs also admitted to buying Victim 3 vaping products in exchange for oral sex.
“Briggs also stated he had given a pair of pajamas/clothing to Victim #4 and in exchange received a video he asked her to produce for him which was of her masturbating,” the report said. “Briggs stated the video was of Victim #4’s face while she was masturbating for him.”
Briggs denied talking about he and his wife being swingers with Victim 1.
