Eugene Chew, Sr.
Eugene Chew, Sr., 69, of Luxora, died Jan. 21, 2020, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a former employee for the City of Luxora and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Chew was born April 5, 1950 in Dell, to Willie and Evie Lee Warner Chew, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Marengia Williams; two brothers, Percy Chew and Willie Chew, Jr.; and one sister Carol Hill.
He is survived by four sons, Eugene (Kila) Chew, Jr. of Osceola, Timothy Chew of Caruthersville, Mo., Tommy Chew of Burlington, Iowa, and Demetrius (Jasmine) Chew of Jonesboro; one daughter, Tammera Chew of Osceola; four brothers, Clarence Chew of Osceola, David Chew of Luxora, Charles Ray Chew of Milwaukee, Wis., and Leon Chew, Sr. of Blytheville; four sisters, Lillie Staten of Blytheville, Gloria Johnson and Odessa Anderson of Osceola and Clara Cannon of Luxora; 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 1, from 12-2 p.m. with the funeral at 2 p.m. at Zion Chapel in Luxora. Burial will be at Whiteside Cemetery in Osceola with Dr. Moses Black officiating. Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola is in charge.
