CORNING— The Armorel Lady Tigers were defeated in the loser’s bracket of the Corning Tournament Wednesday night by the Hayti Lady Indians 48-36.
The Lady Tigers entered the loser’s bracket after forfeiting their first game in the tournament that started Saturday against the Piggott Lady Mohawks due to the funeral of senior guard Abby Kennedy’s father, Tony Kennedy. The Lady Indians jumped out to a 10-4 lead but the Lady Tigers roared back and cut the lead to three entering the half.
AHS had a 30-28 lead heading into the final quarter but was outscored 20-6 down the stretch.
Kennedy led the way for the Lady Tigers with 13 points. Mayson Carr chipped in eight points and Briley Miller added seven points.
The Armorel Tigers were defeated Tuesday night in their 1A-3 conference road matchup against the Ridgefield Christian Warriors, 76-37. Ridgefield Christian did not field a girls team this season, therefore the Lady Tigers were off Tuesday night.
