Jesse Kinard buried six three pointers on his way to a 33-point performance, helping Buffalo Island Central overpower Marmaduke 65-54 in 2A-3 conference action Tuesday night at Chester Barner Gymnasium.

The Mustangs galloped to a 24-7 first period lead before settling on a 35-23 halftime advantage. BIC outscored Marmaduke 16-8 in the third quarter to take a 51-31 bulge into the final frame.

Brayden Carmichael and Nathan Brinkley joined Kinard in double figures for BIC, scoring 12 points apiece. Caden Whitehead netted four while Grady Peel and Eli Couch pitched in two points each. The Mustangs sank 17-25 free throws and drilled nine three pointers. Austin McCoy paced Marmaduke with 14 points while Clay Farmer chipped in 10 more. The Greyhounds canned 14-24 foul shots and knocked down seven three pointers.

In the junior high contest, BIC blasted Marmaduke 58-29. Jaron Burrow led the way for the Mustangs with a game high 24 points. Nicholas Patterson scored 11 while Max McCord had eight. Jax Whitley tallied six, Dawson Stewart netted five while Jack Edwards and Lathan Crane pitched in two points each.

Carsten Grimes paced Marmaduke with eight points.

The Mustangs traveled to Paragould Friday night and came away with a 56-44 victory over Crowley’s Ridge Academy. The Falcons grabbed a 10-6 lead after the first break before BIC rallied in the second period to pull ahead 22-17 at the half. BIC increased its advantage to 47-32 entering the fourth quarter.

Kinard and Carmichael poured in 22 points each to top the Mustangs. Brinkley delivered four, Peel and Luis Reta recorded three points apiece while Whitehead added two. BIC hit 10-13 free throws and sank six triples.

Jake Tillery led the Falcons with 17 points while Keaton Sheppard added 13. CRA made just 3-11 foul shots while sinking five three pointers.

In the junior high game, BIC slipped past CRA 49-44. Burrow paced the Mustangs with 20 points while Parker Anderson added 10 more. McCord scored six while Patterson, Stewart, Whitley and Aiden Neldon all pitched in three points apiece. Edwards added one point. Jesse Beliew pumped in a game high 23 points to lead the Falcons while Mason Beasley added 13.

Marmaduke races past Lady Mustangs

Reesa Hampton pumped in 24 points and Heidi Robinson poured in 20 more to power Marmaduke to a 76-27 victory over Buffalo Island Central in 2A-3 basketball action Monday night at Monette.

The Lady Greyhounds buried 12 three pointers on the night and finished six of eight from the foul stripe. Marmaduke stormed to a 30-13 lead after the first break and held a whopping 54-18 halftime advantage. The Lady Greyhounds took a 69-24 lead into the fourth quarter.

Haley Milligan paced the Lady Mustangs with 11 points. Vicky Esparza scored eight, Laci Dewitt had six while Chareigan Davis added two points. BIC finished three of four from the foul line and canned four treys.

In junior high action, Marmaduke rolled to a 60-29 victory over BIC. MaKenze Hampton scorched the nets for 29 points to top the Lady Greyhounds. Justis Joiner and Baylie Joyner added 14 and 13 points respectively.

Kaydence Lambert led BIC with 10 points. Ashtyn Hawkins recorded seven, Krystyn Hawkins delivered six, Emily Stull contributed four while Hallee Wells chipped in two points.
