JONESBORO- The Class 4A No. 3 Blytheville Chickasaws (13-3) lost a nail-biter in overtime Friday night in the Hoopfest at Jonesboro High School to the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats,80-78.
Both teams started out slowly as the Charging Wildcats led 11-9 to start the game and outscored the Chicks 20-12 in the second quarter to lead 31-21 at the half.
Blytheville, however, came out hot in the second half as they outscored North Little Rock to force overtime.
The Chicks couldn't hang on though and lost in overtime 80-72.
Senior forward Tae Smith led the way with 26 points for the Chicks, including four three-point baskets. Classmate Teddy Washington chipped in 22 points and junior guard Lamont Jackson added 13 points. Blytheville hosted Valley View Tuesday night but the score and stats were unavailable at press time.
