BIC beats EPC in NEA opener

BIC raced out to an 11-2 lead after one and never looked back on their way to a 55-46 win over EPC in the opening game of the NEA Invitational Tournament this past Thursday at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Jesse Kinard scored five of his 15 points in the first quarter as Brayden Carmichael and Nathan Brinkley each netted a three-pointer to give BIC an 11-2 lead at the end of one.

The Mustangs held the Warriors to single digits again in the second quarter as Kinard scored seven points for BIC in the quarter as the Mustangs lead 28-9 at the half.

EPC outscored BIC 18-16 in the third quarter as Carmichael scored eight points for Mustangs with Caden Whitehead adding four points to give BIC a 44-27 lead after three.

The Warriors again outscored BIC in the fourth quarter but it was a little too late to make a difference. Brinkley scored four points in the final frame as Carmichael had a three-ball with Kinard and Eli Couch both scoring a basket as the Mustangs won 55-46.

Carmichael led BIC with 21 points to go along with Kinard’s 15. Brinkley finished with 13 points, Whitehead netted four points as Couch chipped in two points for the Mustangs.
