Manila remained unbeaten in 3A-3 conference action by defeating Corning 69-44 Tuesday night on the road.
The two teams battled to a 13-13 draw after the first break. Manila took charge in the second stanza, outscoring the Bobcats 17-6 to grab a 30-19 halftime advantage.
The Lions expanded their lead to 15 points, 51-36, entering the final frame.
Daley Belew pumped in 23 points, including a nine for nine performance from the foul line to top Manila. Brayden Nunnally scored 15, Ty Wagner had 10 while Austin Harmon contributed eight. Brian Gonzalez delivered six, Jake Baltimore tallied three while Brayden Mattingly and Garrett Hart added two points each. The Lions were sharp from the foul stripe, hitting 15-18 attempts while canning six three pointers.
Colby Briney paced the Bobcats with 17 points while Jayden Wiedeman added 15. Corning hit 7-12 free throws and drilled five treys.
In the junior high game, Corning knocked off Manila 45-33. Eli Mason and Jayce Couch paced the Bobcats, scoring 15 and 14 points respectively.
Corning used a strong second half effort to subdue Manila 39-33 in 3A-3 senior girls basketball action Monday night at Corning.
The Lady Lions led 7-1 after the first quarter and took a 14-9 lead into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Bobcats fought back in the third period, outscoring Manila 18-11 to grab a 27-25 edge heading into the fourth quarter.
Emma Russom, Jerri Vannada and Katie Clifton all scored nine points apiece to lead the Lady Bobcats. Corning connected on 9-14 foul shots and sank eight three pointers.
Brailey Hampton topped Manila with nine points. Sadie McDonald and Kara Watts delivered seven points each. Olivia May had six while Macie Darby chipped in four points. The Lady Lions made just 10-20 free throws and knocked down three treys.
Corning prevailed in the junior high contest, 36-26.
