The city of Blytheville used its two half-million dollar fire trucks in a way other than fighting fires. On Friday, Blytheville firemen were at Walker Park spraying off geese feces from the sidewalk around the pond in preparation for the First Missionary Baptist Church 5th Annual Fishing Rodeo, which was open to children up to 16 years old. According to parks and activities director Cody Wyatt, the city usually uses the sewer department’s jetvac truck to clean the sidewalk and did so on Wednesday. Two days later, geese droppings were on the sidewalk again. Wyatt noted former Blytheville parks and recreation director and organizer of the fishing rodeo Elroy Brown asked that the fire department clean the sidewalks late Friday afternoon so they would be ready for the fishing rodeo the next morning. And firemen obliged.
