Manila Mayor Wayne Wagner and members of the city council will host a public meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Airport/Community Center.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the upcoming vote to extend a sales tax which will allow the city to make major improvements in several departments including the water, drainage, park/recreation, streets, fire department, building repairs and police equipment.

The meeting will give citizens the opportunity to ask questions, express opinions and become familiar with the ballot before voting on Sept. 10. Early voting will begin on Sept. 3.

Each project will be listed so voters will know where the funding generated by the sales tax will be used.

The city officials emphasized if the extension of tax fails, the other items will not matter because none of the funding will be available. They also point out, if the vote passes, it does not increase taxes but only extends a present tax.
