The felony theft case against former Blytheville Waterworks general manager Gary Phillips has been continued.
On Tuesday, Mississippi County Circuit Court Judge Cindy Thyer rescheduled the motion and plea day for Oct. 28 and jury trial for Nov. 4-8.
The trial had been scheduled to begin on Monday.
Phillips is accused of stealing $79,177.39 from the water company from Aug. 1, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2014.
He has asked for a change of venue, claiming that he can’t get a fair trial in Mississippi County because of publicity. Phillips was arrested on Aug. 30, 2018 on felony theft charges.
According to reports, Phillips, 56, resigned in September 2014 shortly before discrepancies were found in Blytheville Waterworks deposits.
