Douglas Eugene Milligan

Douglas Eugene Milligan, 59, of Monette, passed from this life Monday, June 10, 2019, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born in Jonesboro, he was the son of the late Bernard and Milladine Fortenberry Milligan and had been a lifelong resident of the Leachville-Monette areas. Doug was a 1978 graduate of Leachville High School and had also attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was a farmer, and had specialized in custom land leveling, and later swine production for Cobb Farms. He was a member of the Leachville Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bryce Milligan.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Tammy Gathright Milligan of the home; one son, Austin Milligan of Monette; one daughter, Morgan Taylor of Star City; three stepdaughters, Misty Fowler (Kevin Seymore) of Monette, Brandy Ray (Eric) of Monette and Erika Harlan (Dalis) of Cabot; five grandchildren, Jayden Fowler, Cristopher Harlan, Brooklynn Harlan, Layne Taylor, and Press Taylor. He also leaves two sisters, Suzanne Griffin (Gary) of Flippin and Beth Qualls (Dan) of Black Oak. Surviving extended family include his aunts and uncles, Ruth Reece, Joy Rapert, Brenda Milligan, Louise Milligan, Major Milligan, Leo and Sheila Fortenberry, and Alan and Trish Fortenberry.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Mr. Tim Bassing officiating. Burial will follow in the Macey Cemetery near Monette. Pallbearers will include Philip Brown, Cole Hawkins, Len B. Nall, Jerry Wayne Milligan, Jr., Jon Milligan and Justin Milligan.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday from noon until service time at the funeral home.
