Quincy Whitfield, 19, pled guilty to the 2017 slaying of 22-year-old Delvin Devon Meadows on Tuesday.

Whitfield was sentenced to 15 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and 15 years suspended imposition of sentence on the second degree murder charge.

On April 7, 2017, officers of the Blytheville Police Department responded to the 2200 block of West Rose Street in Blytheville in reference to a person who had been shot.

"On arrival officers found 22 year old Delvin Meadows of Blytheville had been shot and was unresponsive," Police Chief Ross Thompson said when Whitfield was arrested in August 2018. "Meadows was transported to the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville where he later died as a result of his injuries. During the course of the investigation detectives of the Blytheville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division developed information that led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Murder 1st for 19-year-old Quincy Whitfield of Blytheville. On August 29, 2018 Whitfield was taken into custody without incident."

Detectives on the case were Jason Simpkins and Chelsea Grimes from BPD, and prosecutors were Curtis Walker Jr and Gina Knight.

Also Tuesday, Cameron Wells, 20, of Blytheville was found guilty by Judge Ralph Wilson, Jr for a revocation on the charge of residential burglary that he pled guilty to back in March. Judge Wilson, after hearing evidence of violations, followed the recommendation of Deputy Prosecutor Gina Knight and sentenced Wells to 15 years in the ADC, followed by five years suspended imposition of sentence.
