Riverside looked to be in big trouble in their 2A-3 district tournament opener Tuesday against Sloan Hendrix. The Rebels spotted the Greyhounds a 7-0 lead entering the bottom of the fourth inning. Riverside began to claw their way back, plating three runs in the bottom of the frame.
The Rebels tacked on two more runs in both the fifth and sixth innings top pull even, 7-7.
Sloan Hendrix went back on top, pushing across a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning. But the Rebels had one more answer, rallying for three tallies in the bottom of the frame to pull out a thrilling 10-9 victory.
Grayson Emery slammed three doubles, drove in a run and scored twice to pace the Rebel offense.
Trae Barnes singled twice, had an RBI and scored a run. Hunter Swaim had a pair of singles and an RBI. Justin Berry smashed an RBI double and scored twice while Braden Gyngard cracked an RBI single and scored a run. Ryan Austin clubbed a double, Easton Hatch singled and scored twice while Jacob Thomas slapped an RBI single and scored a run. Demo Bowers had two RBI while Travon Weaver had an RBI and scored once.
