Buffalo Island Central cruised to an 8-1 victory over Marmaduke in 2A-3 conference baseball action Tuesday at Monette. BIC took a 1-0 lead after the first inning before the Greyhounds pushed across a run in the top of the second to tie the game. BIC answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to go ahead 2-1. The Mustangs scored three times in the third and tacked on three more in the fifth to pull away for the win.
Gavin Gathright pitched four and 1/3 innings to get the win. Gathright gave up one unearned run on just two hits. Gathright whiffed 12 and did not give up a walk. Franklin Patterson worked the final two and 2/3 innings, striking out seven and walking two. Kaleb Dublin led the offense with a pair of singles and a run scored. Kyle Thrasher cracked a two-run single while Gathright drilled an RBI single and scored once. Caleb Suiter and Alex Rangel both singled and scored runs, Jameson Stone scored twice while Patterson and Conner McCord both scored once.
