GOSNELL — The Gosnell Pirates and Manila Lions were tied at one after the first inning and the Pirates scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead, but the Lions scored five runs in the final three innings of play to defeat GHS 6-2 in the the 3A-3 conference matchup Monday night.
The Lions were led offensively by Jeremiah Perez (1-3 with an RBI), Abraham Lopez (1-3),Jackson Imler (run scored), Brock Bimingham (2-2 with three runs scored and an RBI), Ethan Navarro (1-3 with an RBI), Layne Sims (1-3 with two RBIs), Austin Harmon (RBI), Dustin Clark (run scored) and Hunter Vuletich (run scored).
The Pirates were led offensively by Coty Keene (2-3 with a run scored), Devin Jones (1-3), Kyle Robinson (1-3 with a run scored), Dominick McBride (1-2 with an RBI) and Aaron Parham (1-3).
Navarro picked up the victory on the mound for the Lions as he pitched a complete game allowing two runs on six hits. Navarro fanned four GHS batters.
Pirate sophomore pitcher Brayden Burcham was the losing pitcher as he pitched a complete game, allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits. Burcham walked five Lion batters and fanned three batters.
The Lady Pirates defeated the Piggott Lady Mohawks 16-0 Monday night on the road.
