Riverside remained unbeaten in 2A-3 conference baseball action, posting an 11-5 come from behind victory over archrival Buffalo Island Central Thursday at Monette.

Riverside took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. BIC came right back, scoring five unearned runs thanks to some sloppy defense by the Rebels. Riverside sliced the BIC advantage to 5-3, scoring two runs in the fourth. The Rebels then exploded for seven runs in the fifth before tacking on an insurance run in the sixth to complete the comeback.

Ryan Austin worked six innings to gain the victory. Austin allowed five runs, all unearned, while scattering six hits. The righthander struck out seven and did not allow a walk. Easton Hatch pitched a perfect seventh inning.

Gavin Gathright suffered the loss for BIC, giving up seven runs on eight hits.

Traven Weaver paced the Rebels at the plate, cracking a pair of singles and a double, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Austin singled, doubled, had an RBI and scored a run. Justin Berry had three singles and scored three runs while Gage Crews belted a two-run single and scored a run. Hatch and Hunter Swaim both had RBI singles and scored one run each. Trae Barnes drilled an RBI single while Grayson Emery and Demo Bowers both singled and scored a run each.

Jameson Stone, Franklin Patterson and Conner McCord all singled and scored runs to lead the Mustangs at the plate. Kyle Thrasher singled and scored a run, Brayden Carmichael and Caleb Suiter both singled while Alex Rangel scored a run.

BIC began the week, dropping a 6-5 decision Monday at Salem. The Mustangs took a 5-4 lead in to the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Greyhounds tied the game 5-5 before pushing across the winning run on an error to steal the victory.

Carmichael suffered the loss in relief, pitching one inning, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits. Gathright worked the first five and 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits while fanning six and walking one.

Carmichael had a pair of singles, an RBI and scored twice. Gathright singled twice and scored a run while Suiter and Payton Ivy both cracked RBI singles. Kaleb Dublin singled and scored a run, Jameson Stone had a base hit while McCord delivered an RBI and Rangel scored a run.
