Buffalo Island Central built a five-run lead and held off Sloan Hendrix 7-4 in high school baseball action Tuesday at Monette. BIC put four runs on the board in the bottom of the fist inning before adding a single run in the second to take a 5-0 lead. Both teams pushed across runs in the third before the Greyhounds put up a three spot in the top of the fifth to slice the Mustang advantage to 6-4. BIC answered

with a run in the bottom of the fifth and shutout Sloan Hendrix the rest of the way to gain the victory.

Gavin Gathright pitched five innings to gain the victory. The righthander allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits. Gathright fanned seven and walked two. Freshman lefthander Braden Carmichael got the save, pitching two shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out four.

Kaleb Dublin had two singles, a triple and scored three runs while Carmichael added three singles, three RBI and a pair of runs to lead the Mustang offense. Jameson Stone cracked a pair of two run singles, Gathright had an RBI single while Kyle Thrasher singled and scored a run. Conner McCord had a base hit while Franklin Patterson scored a run. Logan Dail belted a two-run homer for the Greyhounds. Braden Brewer was the losing pitcher.
