HARDY—The Blytheville Chickasaws fell 63-58 in the 4A East Regional Tournament championship game Saturday night to the top-ranked 4A team, the Little Rock Mills Comets.
The Chicks led 14-13 after the first and the Comets tied things at the half, 26-26.
Mills led 46-44 heading into the final quarter of play.
With 19.5 seconds remaining the Chicks trailed by three points but the Comets pulled the game out and defeated the Chicks 63-58.
Chicks head coach McKenzie Pierce stated they don’t know their matchup yet for the 4A State Tournament that will be hosted this coming week in Magnolia.
“[We] just didn’t come up with enough loose balls and rebounds to get a W,” Pierce said. “We did a pretty good job on them defensively but we didn’t do a good job boxing them out and that’s really the difference in the game. Very proud of my boys and looking forward to a couple days off for them to get their legs under them and then go and make a run at it next week. Big shoutout to all the fans who traveled and supported this week, it was a great atmosphere and we need you in Magnolia this coming Friday!”
