Water covers the road in Barfield on Friday. “We have been in contact with our OEM Director Wayne Reynolds this week and discussed flooding issues along the Mississippi River,” Mississippi County Judge John Alan Nelson said. “Currently, at Osceola, the river is 36.6 feet and is forecast to reach 39.5 feet on February 27 of next week. At Caruthersville, we are at 39.9 feet with a forecast 43.5 feet. Records for both of these areas are around 47.5 feet, respectively. We will remain in contact with the OEM Director and continue to monitor the river’s observations and forecasts. At this time, we are confident we will not see the extent of flooding that we witnessed in 2011.”
