POCAHONTAS— The Blytheville Chickasaws had no problem advancing to the 4A-3 District Tournament championship game, defeating the Valley View Blazers Thursday night in their semifinals matchup, 59-37.
The Chicks (18-5) jumped out to a 21-5 lead in the first quarter and led 33 - 15 at the half.
The Blazers rallied in the third quarter but the Chicks lead comfortably 44-30.
BHS finished the game on a 15-7 run and defeated Valley View 59-37.
Five Chickasaws were in double figures with sophomore forward Johnny Anderson leading the way with 12 points. Senior center Winston Peace notched a double-double with 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
The Chickasaws will face the Westside Warriors Saturday night in the 4A-3 district championship game.
“Defense & intensity was as good as it has been all year,” Blytheville head cocach McKenzie Pierce wrote on his Facebook page. “5 guys in double figures tonight, played in sync on both sides of the ball tonight.”
