Riverside threw in 15 long range three-point bombs and went on to rout Buffalo Island Central 67-20 in 2A-3 girls basketball action Monday night at Lake City.
The Lady Rebels canned three treys in the opening quarter, including a pair of triples by Lotti Hoffman, to grab an 11-3 lead after the first break.
Morgan James produced BIC’s only points of the quarter with a three pointer at the 1:47 mark.
Riverside knocked down three more triples in the second stanza, including back to back treys from Alexis Courtney, extending their lead to 35-14 at the half.
The Lady Rebels closed the quarter on an 8-0 run capped off by Bean Hoffman’s three- point play.
Riverside began the third period nailing back to back triples from Grace Puckett and Bean Hoffman. Briley Douglas delivered a free throw at the 5:48 mark as the Lady Rebels took a 42-14 lead. Haddyn Hurst’s offensive stick-back broke a 15-0 Riverside run, but the Lady Rebels answered with three triples on their next four trips down the floor to extend their advantage to 55-20 entering the final frame.
Anna Meurer buried three treys in the fourth quarter as the Lady Rebels easily picked up their 27th victory of the season while improving their league mark to 10-1.
Lotti Hoffman led Riverside with 17 points while Meurer scored 15 and Courtney had 11. Bean Hoffman also delivered double digits, posting 10 points. Hailey Carr tallied six, Puckett netted five while Douglas added three points. The Lady Rebels connected on eight of 12 foul shots and committed just six turnovers.
James paced the Lady Mustangs with 13 points. Hanah Carle scored three while Hurst and Brianna Lambert added two points apiece.
BIC made five of eight free throws and hit one three-pointer. The Lady Mustangs committed 24 turnovers.
In the junior high contest, Riverside downed BIC 33-26. Lindy Bolt led the Lady Rebels with six points, Ali Towles scored five, Hannah Gosa, Gracie Washington and Kalli Shasteen netted four points each while Lexi Moyer contributed three. Amber Courtney and Mackenzie Thomas chipped in two points apiece.
Haley Milligan poured in a game high 16 points to lead the Lady Mustangs. Lexi Riley posted six, Kaydence Lambert had three while Emily Davis pitched in one point.
The Lady Rebels traveled to Imboden Friday night and came away with a 43-34 victory over Sloan Hendrix. Riverside led 12-8 after the first quarter before the Lady Greyhounds rallied to take a 21-18 halftime lead. The Lady Rebels battled back in the third quarter to pull ahead 36-27 entering the final frame.
Puckett topped Riverside with 15 points while Lotti Hoffman added 13. Natalie King topped Sloan Hendrix with 13.
In junior high action, Sloan Hendrix defeated Riverside 42-34 despite Ali Towles’ 25-point effort. Washington scored four, Shasteen and Bolt added two points each while Courtney chipped in one point for the Lady Rebels.
