Salem put together a fourth quarter rally and squeaked out a 31-28 victory over Riverside in senior boys 2A-3 conference play Tuesday night at Lake City.
The Greyhounds grabbed a 10-4 lead after the first quarter before the Rebels fought back to take a 15-13 edge at intermission. Riverside held a slim 24-23 lead heading into the fourth period, but the Greyhounds outscored the Rebels 8-4 to secure the win.
Bryson Love, Garrett Romine and Gabe Miller all scored nine points each to lead Salem in scoring. The Greyhounds hit nine of 12 free throws and canned two three pointers.
Steven Stroud finished with a game high 10 points to top the Rebels.
Justin Berry scored eight, Gavin Crews had five, Trever Mangrum chipped in three while Ethan Boatman added two points. Riverside went five of six from the charity stripe and knocked down three treys.
In junior high play, Riverside bounced Salem 41-26. Carl Gallapoo drilled four three pointers and finished with a game high 22 to pace the Rebels. J.M. Shinall and Stanford Robinson tallied six points apiece, Easton Hatch netted five while Trae Barnes added two points.
Matt Guffey led Salem with eight points.
