Frances Crews Thompson

Frances Crews Thompson, 75, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Leachville, passed from this life Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. Born in Leachville, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ethel Pilgrim Crews and was a 1961 graduate of Leachville High School. She had worked at the Cumberland County Tax Department and the BB&T Bank in Fayetteville and was a devout animal lover caring for anything that walked, crawled or flew. When living in the Leachville and Manila areas she attended Westside Baptist Church in Manila.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Crews, and a sister, Wanda Crews.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Frank Thompson of the home; three sons, Steve Sanders of St. Pauls, N.C., Phillip Sanders of Hope Mills, N.C., and Gregory Thompson of the home; one stepson, Frank Thompson, Jr. of West Plains, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Terresa Lane (Gary) of Fairbanks, Alaska; two brothers, James Crews and Ray Crews, both of Leachville; two sisters, Barbara Ballard of Leachville and Alice Henson of Manila.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Reverend Eddie Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
