According to Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook, the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department and members of the Blytheville Police Department Special Response Team executed a search warrant at 400 Summit Street in Blytheville, arresting two Blytheville residents on drug and weapon charges.

Officers arrested Lyonel Smith, 31, and Jessica Osten, 25, and transported them to the Mississippi County Detention Center pending a probable cause hearing in Blytheville District Court.

Smith faces charges of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, theft by receiving and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. Osten is being held on charges of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Sheriff Cook said during the search, officers seized a quantity of methamphetamine, two handguns (one having a high capacity magazine), digital scales, plastic baggies used for distribution, a quality of marijuana and a stolen vehicle.

There were also three children in the residence.

“I am proud of the work of the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department in removing this toxic substance from the streets of Blytheville,” Sheriff Cook said. “Additionally, I appreciate the Blytheville Police Department for its assistance in executing the search warrant and securing the scene. WE can and will accomplish great things by continuing to work together for the betterment of Mississippi County.”

Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson added: "We are continuing to build on the success that we've had over the last few years in trying to eradicate drugs from our communities."
