Riverside picked up its first 2A-3 conference victory of the season with a 52-48 victory over Sloan Hendrix Tuesday night at Lake City.
The Rebels (3-12, 1-3) led 14-8 after the first quarter before taking a 22-16 lead into the dressing room at the half. Sloan Hendrix fought back in the third period and sliced the Riverside lead to 32-30 entering the final frame.
Sloan Hendrix (10-8, 4-3) got 13 points from Jacob Smith and 12 from Logan Dail.
Steven Stroud poured in a game high 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Rebels.
In the junior high game, Sloan Hendrix got a 31-point performance from Braden Cox as the Greyhounds downed the Rebels 53-36.
Riverside will return to the hardcourt Tuesday night when they travel to Monette to take on Buffalo Island Central in a key 2A-3 conference matchup. The Rebels will open NEA Tournament play Thursday night against Harrisburg. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
