Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, the Blytheville Courier News and Manila Town Crier will merge to become the NEA Town Courier, according to Blytheville Courier News General Manager Mark Brasfield.

“Blytheville Courier News subscribers will continue to receive all of the local news from ‘Blytheville’s No. 1 Source for Local News’ as well as have an opportunity to be informed of what is happening in our expanded coverage area, including the Manila area and a portion of Craighead County,” said Brasfield, who will serve as general manager of the NEA Town Courier. “Our print publication days will remain the same — Wednesdays and Saturdays. We believe that the move allows us to offer a bigger, better product to our readers. Expanding our coverage area will allow us to reach new markets for both news coverage and advertising. We look forward to an exciting new beginning next year.”

The NEA Town Courier will be located at the current Blytheville Courier News building, 510 West Main.

“We will continue to operate out of the CN building, the staff will remain the same,” Brasfield said. “We welcome our colleagues from Manila who moved into our building in September.”

More details will be released in the coming weeks.
