Riverside suffered a pair of excruciating one-point losses in senior boys basketball action last week. The Rebels fell to Ridgefield Christian 50-49 Tuesday night in Jonesboro before losing a heartbreaker Friday night at Crowley’s Ridge Academy 54-53.

Riverside jumped ahead of Ridgefield Christian 9-6 after the first break. The Warriors battled back to even the score 18-18 at intermission. Ridgefield squeezed ahead 35-34 entering the final frame.

Garrett Finnicum paced the Warriors with 13 points while Elijah Ellenburg scored 12 and Chris McAdams added 10 points.

Steven Stroud pumped in a game high 18 points to lead the Rebels while Gavin Crews added 14.

In the junior high contest, Riverside battled past Ridgefield 50-42 in overtime. The two teams fought to a 38-38 tie at the end of regulation before Riverside outscored the Warriors 12-4 in the extra period to secure the victory.

John Marcus Shinall poured in 23 points to lead Riverside while Trae Barnes added 15. Evan Massey and Tyler Fronzaglio scored 10 points each to pace the Warriors.

Riverside returns to action Saturday when they participate in the Williams Baptist University Tournament at Walnut Ridge.
