A representative with the State Board of Elections is in Mississippi County monitoring the election today (Tuesday).

The representative, Chuck Eick, was at the Mississippi County Election Center in Blytheville this morning and planned to travel to Osceola afterwards. Eick inspected the assisted voters list in Blytheville, among other documents, this morning.

He told the CN that he could not disclose who asked the State Board of Elections to monitor the local elections.

However, at least one candidate has confirmed that he asked for the agency's oversight of the election.

Blytheville mayoral candidate Tom Henry told the CN that he requested the State Board of Elections be here to monitor "hauling."

Meanwhile, according to Mississippi County Election Commission chairman Tom Wiktorek seven voters in Dyess voted on the wrong ballot, voting in the District 55 State Representative race rather than for District 54 State Representative. All seven were given an opportunity to come back and vote on the correct ballot and all did.

Absentee ballots will be opened and processed at 2:30 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the ANC Student Center in Burdette.

The polls will close at 7:30 tonight.
