Carl Anthony “Tony” Rogers
It is with great sadness the family of Carl Anthony “Tony” Rogers announces his passing after battling cancer. He passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at the age of 69 years.
Tony will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Dian; his children, Melissa and Christopher; and his son-in-law, Jeffrey Kime, Jr. Tony will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Wilma “Sug” Williams.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Laura Rogers; brothers, Verlin “Bud” Rogers, Arthur “Junior” Rogers and Ira “Rick” Rogers; and his sisters, Leola Harmon, Marquita “Rose” Rabey and Dessie “Dee” Harty. Tony will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Tony was a proud alumnus of Manila High School in Manila and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He served 12 years in the U.S. Army as a member of the Air Defense Artillery. After 18 years of dedicated service as a computer programmer, he retired from the City of Dallas in 2009. Tony's many interests included music, science fiction novels, military history and firearms and genealogy.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Laurel Land Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6000 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232. Visitation will be 1 p.m. on the day of the service.
