GOSNELL — During Tuesday night’s Gosnell City Council meeting, Gosnell city attorney Richard Reid suggested a possible solution concerning jail fees owed to Mississippi County.

“We requested an itemization of fees that we were told was owed due to those fees being over $41,000.00. After we went over everything ourselves, it stood true and the city of Gosnell did owe that amount,” Reid said.

Reid told the council that he asked the county that, since it worked with Blytheville on lowering some of the fees, if it would do the same for Gosnell.

"I'd like to commend Sheriff Cook because he worked with us and discounted our total from over $41,000 to $30,000 to be paid in 3 monthly payments of $10,000 and then Gosnell will no longer owe any overdue county jail fees," Reid said.

The Gosnell City Council voted unanimously to accept the payment agreement Reid recommended.
