Wreck involving tractor, SUV halts traffic on Highway 18 for nearly three hours

DELL — Highway 18 has reopened near Dell after an accident involving a tractor and SUV Wednesday morning.

According to Sgt. Steve Lancaster of the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, preliminary indications are the Nissan Armada rear-ended the tractor around 7:50 a.m. Wednesday. He noted the Arkansas State Police is working the accident and will have the official report.

Lancaster said the driver of the tractor was transported to Great River Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, according to Lancaster.

Along with ASP and the MCSD, the Blytheville Fire Department's Hazmat team responded to the accident, assisting with cleanup. The Arkansas Department of Transportation delivered sand to the scene.

Traffic was at a standstill until around 10:35 a.m. Wednesday.
