Cancer doesn't discriminate and nearly a month ago a little boy, Bruce Stabbs and his family’s life changed drastically after he was diagnosed with what doctors believe is Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia ( ALL).
ALL is treatable, however, Stabbs will be at St. Jude Children’s Hospital for at least 6-8 weeks and then if he is able to go home he will have to go back every week for two and a half years. Stabb's immune system isn't currently fighting anything off so he is "kind of isolated".
A friend of the family set up a GoFundMe page for donations. The family is currently living at St. Jude and is only provided a meal card, which assists Bruce and a parent. Stabbs has two sisters and the family does travel from Blytheville to Memphis, which can be costly. The family is also not able to work since having to stay in Memphis to take care of Stabbs. The family asks for money that will help with gas, food and with toiletry products.
"The only thing we are really asking for is like money for food and gas money. We go back and forth from home and to help the girls to be able to spend time with them and let them see their brother. Clothing-wise, because he is on steroids but he's dropping weight and gaining weight," said Stabbs’ mother Kimberly Daniels. "I never saw this coming at all. You only think it's going to happen in movies and never to your kids. It's unbelievable."
