Three Lady Rebels basketball standouts signed letter of intent to continue their playing careers Wednesday afternoon at the Riverside High School Gymnasium in Lake City.

Haven Robertson, Brittney Sain and Whitney Wagganor helped lead the Lady Rebels to a 36-6 record this season, including a conference and district championship.

Robertson, who will attend Greenville University in Illinois, led the Lady Rebels in scoring, averaging over 13 points per game. Robertson also topped the Lady Rebels at the foul line, shooting a torrid 91 percent on the season. Robertson scored 526 points on the year and went over 1,000 for her career. The three- time all-state performer also hit 35 percent of her three-point attempts and shot 46 percent from the field overall.

“I am really excited. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this for a long time and it’s finally happening,” Robertson said. “Greenville was one of the first schools I visited, and I really liked it. I was worried about the distance initially, but after touring other schools, I kept coming back to Greenville. It left an impact on me. It felt like home and I decided it was the place for me. It’s awesome getting to sign with Brittany and Whitney. Getting to play with Brittany since seventh grade and Whitney the last three years and seeing us reach our goals is fantastic. It’s an awesome feeling for me because I’ve been working for this since I was in the sixth grade. Seeing the work I’ve put into it pay off is just awesome.”

Sain averaged eight points and three rebounds per game. She was a three-time all-conference and two-time all NEA Tournament selection. Sain will attend the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville.

“It was really a blessing getting a scholarship from the University of the Ozarks,” Sain said. “I really liked the campus and everything about it. It feels good to be signing the same day as my teammates. I’ve been playing with them a long time and I know they wanted this as badly as I did. Riverside has been a special play. It’s like family here and they have helped me through some tough times this year. They have really helped me. They saw potential in me and helped me to be my best.”

Wagganor, Riverside’s floor general, averaged five points and two assists per game, and was called on to be the lock down defender. Wagganor was a two-time all-conference player. She will attend Lyon College in Batesville.

“I felt really comfortable at Lyon. I loved the campus and the players. It feels great to be sharing this day with my teammates. We are all fulfilling a lifelong dream to play college basketball, so this makes me very happy. I love playing basketball and I had three great years at Riverside. I wouldn’t have wanted to have been anywhere else,” Wagganor said.

“Honestly, for a school our size to have three kids sign to play college ball in the same year is almost unheard of,” said Spencer Hoffman, Riverside head basketball coach. “It’s a blessing. This is a unique group. If Hattie Milligan had wanted to, she could have continued playing but she was ready to move on from basketball. I’m just ecstatic for these three girls and their families. It’s a reward for all the hard work that they put in.”
